First off, an apology to everyone paying attention to our little band. A few months back we said our sophomore album, Our Manderley was scheduled to be released on a date that has long ago passed. Well, we severely underestimated the time we needed to put out an album with no reservations. Meaning, something we’d consider the best we could offer. No worries, we are going to release it soon, but we’re not going to inform you of how soon until we’re more confident on the time line. Or at least until we’re done tracking :).
The best part about the release is we have multiple elements planned besides a round piece of plastic. One of those being a video. Our friend Luke Hartley is helping us with it. Check out some test footage here: Anybody See My Tuner?.
So hang in there. We promise the wait will be worthwhile…
A little over a month back we humbly accepted an invitation to contribute a song to Suburban Sprawl Music’s annual holiday themed compilation. Fast forward to today (Dec. 1st) and the entire 52 track comp’ is available for FREE. Head over to the SSM site to download it.
Detroit based photographer Luke Hartley shot some stellar pics of Sh! during Fucking Awesome Fest. Navigate over to Luke’s blog The Driver and the Passenger and take a look.
Our long (and mostly painful) search for a 5th member has finally come to an end. Marina Trejo (MySpace) has officially joined Sh!. Her first show with the band is scheduled August 16th at 9PM for Fucking Awesome Fest at the Majestic Theatre Center (Detroit, MI). See you then!
Our music is now “playlisted” on WDET, FM 101.9 Detroit, MI (thank you Ann Delisi) and The Station, AM 1610 Hamtramck, MI.
We’re especially excited about The Station. They’re a brand new broadcast set to air on May Day (workers unite)! The signal will only reach as far as the borders of Hamtramck but their DIY ideals are inline with our own.
We have decided on a title for our upcoming sophomore album…
Our Manderley
The title is derived from Daphne du Maurier’s 1938 novel Rebecca. The novel is also the basis for Alfred Hitchcock’s 1940 film of the same name.
A track list will follow shortly. Stay tuned…
Our entire debut album, The Carrot Chase is now stream-able!
Just look to the right —>
We’re once again dipping our metaphoric toes into the recording waters. Our sophomore album hasn’t a title, or anything other than loose ideas begging to be pulled tight into a bow. Nevertheless, we’re excited (and daunted) by the task put forth this season.
Hopefully you won’t forget about us! Remember, it’s easy to keep abreast of changes on the Sh! front. Subscribe (RSS Feed), schedule (Google Calendar), sign-up (Email Newsletter), and/or befriend (Myspace, Virb, and Facebook).
A few college stations have been playing tracks off The Carrot Chase. We’d like to send out a big “thank you” to those DJs/station managers willing to help us out. It’s nice to know people are still lending helping hands to tiny indie bands… Thanks to:
